I am a Texas native and graduate of Texas A&M University. I've served in the Navy for the past 10 years and recently accepted promotion to the rank of lieutenant commander. The choice was a deliberate one for me, as it signified a shift in my perspective toward making the Navy a genuine career and committing to pursue further professional development, education and advancement. Part of that professional development involved accepting orders to San Diego State University as part of the School of Journalism and Media Studies' Military Public Affairs Officer Program and pursuing professional certification and accreditation in the field of public relations. Outside work and academia, I am a running enthusiast and a single mom to the cutest toddler a parent can ask for.

My name is Josh Estrada. I am from San Antonio, Texas, and I attended PVAMU for my undergraduate degree. I joined the Marine Corps in 2020 as a Communication Strategy and Operations officer, and for four years, I was assigned to the 1st Marine Division, headquartered at Camp Pendleton, California. I am looking to study how data collected from methods can be used to demonstrate the effects of a communication plan.

I was born and raised in Frankfurt, Germany, and spent part of my life living in Spain. I earned my undergraduate degree in journalism at San Diego State University, where I am also a dedicated member of the SDSU Women's Track and Field Team. In the SDSU Master's in Mass Communication and Media Studies program, I aim to build upon my military communication experience by studying strategic communication theory, international media relations, and crisis communication management. My goal is to leverage both my practical field experience and advanced academic training to return to the Marine Corps and enhance our public communication efforts through more effective strategic messaging and media engagement practices.

Prior to coming to the grad program, I studied at the University of Mississippi School of Journalism and New Media.
