The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) requires that all ACEJMC-accredited programs make publicly available information regarding student retention and graduation rates:
Of the 78 first-time, first-year students enrolled in the School of Journalism and Media Studies in fall 2021, 89.7% continued into the second year, compared to 89.2% of the 5,236 first-time, first-year students enrolled at SDSU.
Of the 86 first-time, first-year students enrolled full-time in the School of Journalism and Media Studies in fall 2018, 67.4% graduated in four years. In comparison, of the 5,646 first-time, first-year students enrolled full-time at SDSU in fall 2018, 56.3% graduated in four years.
Of the 101 first-time, first-year students enrolled full-time in the School of Journalism and Media Studies in fall 2016, 65.3% graduated in four years and 79.2% graduated in six years. In comparison, of the 4,812 first-time, first-year students enrolled full-time at SDSU in fall 2016, 53.5% graduated in four years and 78.0% graduated in six years.
