Bio

Rebecca Lopez was on the spring 2020 public relations team for the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations. She graduated in May 2020 with a public relations degree from the School of Journalism and Media Studies and a minor in television, film and media studies. During the spring 2020 semester she serves on the messaging and publicity team as well as the research team for the Broom Center. The team won a Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Award for their campaign.

Rebecca was also an integral part in planning and executing the Center Collection put on display during the third annual Allen H. Center Distinguished Lecture in Public Relations. The Center Collection contained artifacts showcasing the life of Allen Center, APR, Fellow PRSA. Rebecca went through the artifacts and carefully hand selected the most valuable items to be put on display for guests to see at the lecture.

During her time at SDSU Rebecca was a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America, Rho Lambda and served as the philanthropy director of Kappa Alpha Theta at SDSU. In this officer position she educated members of SDSU and the surrounding communities on the severity of the problems in the foster care system.

She planned and executed multiple successful events throughout her term in order to raise awareness and funds for the Panhellenic organizations philanthropies, Court Appointed Special Advocates, which helps give children in the foster care system a voice in all aspects of their life, and the Theta Foundation, which helps women in the organization across the country who have been affected by a hardship.

Rebecca is resourceful and brings passion and creativity into everything she does. After graduation, Rebecca Lopez will pursue a career in entertainment public relations, and will use the knowledge and resources she obtained from the Broom Center to make a difference in the industry.
