Bio
Erendira Ibarra was on the spring 2020 public relations team for the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations. The team won a Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Award for their campaign. She graduated in May 2020 with a degree in public relations from the School of Journalism & Media Studies at San Diego State University.
Ibarra was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico and moved to the U.S. when she was 17 years old.
Despite her immigration status and language barrier, she earned an associate's degree in public administration from Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California. She then transferred to SDSU. She considers earning her bachelor’s degree her biggest achievement and thanks her parents for making this possible.
Ibarra is a public relations intern at Fidelitas Development, a marketing agency in San Diego. She believes real practice experiences through this internship complement her preparation to the PR field. Ibarra is a member of the National Society of Leadership and the Public Relations Student Society of America.
Ibarra wants to continue with her education after earning her bachelor’s degree and one day be able to help people with similar stories like hers. She wants to represent the Latino community make a positive impact in this country.
