Bio

Sabrina Basurto was on the spring 2020 public relations team for the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations. She graduated in May 2020 with a degree in public relations from the School of Journalism & Media Studies at San Diego State University.

During the spring 2020 semester, she worked on Broom Center’s messaging and publicity while playing an integral role in organizing and executing the annual Allen H. Center Distinguished Lecture in Public Relations. The team won a Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Award for their campaign.

Basurto brings her creativity and love for storytelling into all her work, whether she’s drafting social media content or planning out the smallest details of an event.

Throughout her student career at SDSU, Basurto served as the director of digital marketing for the SDSU Advertising Club where she and her teammates revitalized the previously inactive club and increased membership by 20 active members.

At the time she graduated, Basurto was a social media intern at Olive Creative Strategies in San Diego. At Olive, she helps boost client engagement, runs social media reports and writes monthly blog posts on client websites. She is also an active member of the Public Relations Student Society of America.

Born and raised in San Diego, Basurto hopes to stay in her hometown and pursue a career in hospitality and lifestyle PR.
