Dr. Joel Davis

Joel Davis joined the San Diego State faculty in 1990, after having served as Vice President, Strategic Planning & Research at two Chicago advertising agencies: Foote, Cone & Belding and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles.

Dr. Davis teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of advertising theory and strategic planning, advertising research and advertising media planning.

Dr. Davis’ research interests lie in the areas of advertising strategy, advertising ethics and advertising in new media. His research and writings appear in journals such as the Journal of Health Communication, the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, and Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly. His most recent research examines the accessibility of web-based information and the ethics/potential deceptiveness of prescription drug advertising.
