Bio

Taylor Webster was on the spring 2020 public relations team for the Glen M. Broom Center for Professional Development in Public Relations. She graduated with a degree in public relations from the School of Journalism & Media Studies at San Diego State University in May 2020. During the spring 2020 semester she served as the human resources manager for the Broom Center, leading her PR campaign team toward achieving their goals and objectives. The team won a Public Relations Society of America San Diego/Imperial Counties Edward L. Bernays Mark of Excellence Award for their campaign.

Webster loves what the Broom Center stands for and the encouragement it brings to aspiring public relations professionals. Their motto says it all: “Making the Profession Better by Making You Your Best Professional.”

In 2020, the Broom Center published an article on their website written by Webster titled, “Media Trust is a Problem for PR Too,” discussing disinformation and the issues media trust brings upon public relations professionals today.

Webster began serving as the vice president of public relations for SDSU Civil Core in 2019. SDSU Civil Core is an organization dedicated to promoting civility across campus and in the San Diego community. She runs the organization’s social media page and implements all events on and off campus. She finds SDSU Civil Core is a perfect outlet for her passion for public relations and helping the community.

In 2019 Webster became the events director for HerCampus SDSU, an online magazine targeted toward the female collegiate demographic. No stranger to the strategic PR process, she uses her skills to plan and implement their events in San Diego.

Webster is also a member of Kappa Delta at SDSU. Having been a member of this Panhellenic organization since 2016, she enjoys partaking in the sorority’s philanthropic efforts supporting Prevent Child Abuse America and their local San Diego branch, Olive Crest. Webster also works with Girl Scouts USA through Kappa Delta, helping to instill confidence in young women.

Moving from Kentucky to attend SDSU, Webster followed her passion for public relations across the country. Whenever she sets her mind to something, she does not give up until it is done. Her ultimate goal is to work in entertainment PR. That perseverance led her to achieving a job at one of the world’s largest entertainment studios, Warner Bros.

WB hired Webster as a studio tour guide in 2019. Exemplifying her tenacity and determination, she continues to work in Burbank, California while finishing her final semester as a full-time student at SDSU.

Now that she graduated, Webster will pursue a career in entertainment PR and looks forward to the adventures and experience to come in the near future.
