September 21, 2015
JMS public relations senior Natalie Mason was awarded a $2,500 scholarship from the LAGRANT Foundation, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the number of ethnic minorities in advertising, marketing and public relations. To achieve its mission, the foundation offers scholarships, internships, career and professional development workshops, and mentors to African American/Black, Asian American/Pacific Islander, Native American/Alaska Native and Hispanic/Latino students. The 2015 scholarship events began in Chicago with a welcome dinner hosted by Waggener Edstrom Communication on June 7. The next day, Golin hosted a full-day career and professional development workshop. Following the workshop, students attended a scholarship and donor recognition reception, which was held at Google Chicago. Bill Imada, chairman and Chief Collaborative Officer of IW Group Inc. gave the keynote speech for the evening. In addition to her public relations major, Mason is a double minor in Spanish and sociology. She is president of the SDSU chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America.
