JMS Students, Faculty and Alumni Win Multiple SPJ Awards

Numerous students, faculty, and alumni won multiple awards in the 2016 journalism competition of the San Diego Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.
Students Christian Rangel and Adriana Heldiz won scholarships from the chapter for their student media work.
Journalism senior Jamie Ballard won first place in college media’s multicultural story category; alumnus J.W. August and his team won first place in investigative/enterprise reporting; and alumna Gayle Falkenthal won first place for sports reporting.
Other winners included part-time faculty member Professor Roman Koenig; students Jacob Sisneros, Andrew Dyer, Quinn Owen, Jamie Ballard, Anthony Berteaux; and alumni Megan Wood, Adam Burkhart, and Leo Castaneda.
