The Advertising major, formally part of the School of Communication, will be part of the new School of Journalism & Media Studies (JMS) beginning July 2007.

Students declaring the Advertising pre-major on or after August 22, 2007 and incoming transfer and freshmen students who begin fall 2007 must follow the new curriculum, detailed on the 2007/2008 Advertising Checklist.

Students who declared the Advertising pre-major in the 2006/2007 academic year or earlier will continue with the requirements for their catalog year but now have the option to take new JMS courses in place of the previous upper division requirements and electives. Prerequisites for some classes have changed, thus allowing students with catalog year 2006/2007 and earlier the opportunity to take some classes in a new sequence.
